Explore the Triangle Area of North Carolina

Three cities make up the Triangle area of North Carolina – Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh, the state’s capital, with the Research Triangle Park (RTP) located in the center. Other smaller communities are also a part of the Triangle area – Cary, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Wake Forest, Apex, Butner and Creedmore and are viable housing options for people who work in the primary cities.

The rolling topography of the Triangle, located in the Piedmont area of the state, is in the foothills of the mountains and enjoys relatively mild weather with four balanced seasons. Sometimes we get a little snow; sometimes it gets a little warm, but overall, it’s a great climate with plenty of activities for all seasons. An ideal location, the Triangle area is located just a couple of hours from the Atlantic ocean with its temperate Gulf Stream and just a couple of hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the western part of the state.

The Triangle area has become a primary attraction on the east coast because of a number of features including wonderful and creative restaurants, superb sports venues (both professional and collegiate), excellent facilities for the arts and music as well as, of course, a healthy economy with a full spectrum of hiring opportunities. Major employers include the nationally recognized universities of the area: Duke University in Durham (the Blue Devils), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (the Tar Heels), and North Carolina State University (the Wolf Pack) in Raleigh as well as NC Central University in Durham and other academic facilities such as Meredith College in Raleigh. The other primary employers are the companies of the world-renowned Research Triangle Park (RTP) and the smaller businesses that provide support for the Park.

In 2021, tech giants Google and Apple both announced plans to call the Triangle home, bringing thousands of jobs to the area over the next several years. Google’s engineering hub will be located in Downtown Durham in the Durham Innovation District. Apple’s new $1-billion campus will be built in RTP just off the Triangle Expressway.

The Research Triangle Park, a public/private planned research park, could be considered the mini-silicon valley of the east coast. It encompasses approximately 7,000 acres and is the home of more than 136 companies that employ a vast work force in a variety of fields. The Research Triangle Park is a public/private, planned research park, created in 1959 by leaders from business, academia and industry and has been an extremely successful collaborative effort that encompasses the spirit of cooperation and learning within the scientific, academic and technological community.

Listed below are gateway links to businesses and organizations of the Triangle. Please explore the variety of options and areas that have been included for your information and please contact us with any questions you might have regarding real estate in the Triangle!
