I pride myself on treating people with warmth and compassion, especially when they are going through stressful, life-changing events. Buying and Selling real estate can definitely be one of those situations. My clients will tell you that they appreciate my understanding of their wants and needs and am patient as those change. They will also tell you I have a wicked sense of humor. My goal is to make real estate an adventure instead of a process.

At 17, I was an intern at a small real estate office in my hometown of Danville, Virginia. At 42, I received my North Carolina Real Estate Broker license. The 25 years in between were a series of twists and turns that shaped who I am today.

My plan of becoming a real estate agent in Danville changed when my mother took a job at Duke University, and we moved to Durham before the start of my senior year in high school. I completed my senior year at the newly-built Riverside High School and was in the first graduating class, Class of 1993. I continued my education at Durham Technical Community College and received my B.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill, Class of 1998.

In the year following my graduation, I received my North Carolina Real Estate Salesman license, but life took me, once again, in a different direction. My first job — where I planned to stay just long enough to earn money to begin real estate — turned into 18 years. I then became a Technical Writer, Data Manager and then a Program Manager. During those years, I completed my first (and only, to date) novel that remains unpublished along with some short-stories and essays. I also worked as a part-time Funeral Assistant at a Durham funeral home.

Finally, my path circled back to real estate and it was time at last to pursue my dream. So, I went back to real estate school, earned my broker license, and haven’t looked back.

Aside from real estate, I enjoy spending time at the beaches and mountains of North Carolina as well as an occasional trip to Europe. I am a supporter of the Animal Protection Society, Georgia English Bulldog Rescue, Duke University Chapel, WCPE Classical Radio, and the North Carolina Writers Network. I also serve as the Treasurer of the Treyburn Residential Owners Association.
